Business consulting that starts with honest diagnosis

Most firms already know something is wrong. They just disagree on what. We sit with your leadership team, examine the numbers, talk to your people, and deliver a clear plan you can act on within weeks.

The problems we see most often

After working with over 80 mid-market companies across Scotland and northern England, we keep encountering the same patterns.

  • Revenue grows but margins shrink because costs scale faster than sales
  • Senior hires leave within 18 months, taking institutional knowledge with them
  • Departments operate on different data, so board meetings become arguments rather than decisions
  • Growth initiatives stall at the pilot stage because nobody owns the follow-through

What we do about it

We do not arrive with a pre-packaged framework and force your business into it. Instead, we spend the first two weeks inside your operation: reading your P&L line by line, interviewing managers, sitting in on team stand-ups.

From that, we produce a 12-page diagnostic report. It names the three to five issues that matter most, ranks them by financial impact, and lays out a realistic timeline for fixing each one. No jargon, no 200-slide decks.

If you want us to stay and help implement, we do that too. If you prefer to run with it internally, the report gives you everything you need.

How an engagement works

01

Discovery call

A 45-minute conversation where we learn about your company, your goals, and the friction points you are experiencing. No charge, no obligation.

02

On-site diagnostic

We spend two weeks embedded in your business. We review financials, interview key staff, map processes, and identify bottlenecks that are costing you money.

03

Diagnostic report

You receive a written document that prioritises issues by financial impact, with specific recommendations and a proposed timeline for each fix.

04

Implementation support

If you choose ongoing support, we assign a lead consultant who works alongside your team for three to six months to execute the plan and measure results.

What we consult on

Six practice areas, each led by a consultant with at least 12 years of sector experience.

Operational restructuring

We map your end-to-end workflows, identify where time and money leak out, and redesign processes so your team delivers more with the same headcount. Typical engagement length: 8 weeks.

Growth strategy

Whether you are entering a new market or launching a product line, we build the financial model, test assumptions against real data, and present a go/no-go recommendation your board can trust.

Financial performance review

We dig into your management accounts, benchmark your ratios against industry medians, and show you exactly where margin improvement is hiding. Most clients recover the engagement fee within 90 days.

Leadership alignment

When the executive team pulls in different directions, everything downstream suffers. We facilitate structured workshops that turn disagreement into a shared action plan within two days.

Technology selection

Choosing the wrong ERP, CRM or data platform wastes years. We evaluate vendors against your actual requirements, run proof-of-concept tests, and negotiate contracts on your behalf.

Risk and compliance

Regulatory landscapes shift fast, especially for firms operating across UK jurisdictions. We audit your current compliance posture, flag gaps, and build a remediation roadmap with clear ownership.

A small firm by design

We keep our team to eight consultants. That is intentional. Every client works directly with a senior partner, not a junior analyst who was hired last month. When you ring us, you get the person who wrote your diagnostic report.

The firm was founded in 2017 by two former operational directors who grew tired of watching large consultancies deliver expensive reports that gathered dust. Our rule is simple: if a recommendation cannot be acted on within 90 days, it does not go in the report.

We are based in Scotland and work primarily with companies turning over between £5m and £80m. That is the range where our methods have the most impact, because the organisation is large enough to have real complexity but small enough that changes can be implemented quickly.

Questions we hear often

A two-week diagnostic for a company with up to 150 employees typically costs between £8,000 and £14,000 depending on the number of sites we visit. We quote a fixed fee before starting, so there are no surprises.

Rarely. Our methods are designed for companies that already have revenue, customers, and operational history to analyse. If you are pre-revenue, a startup accelerator will serve you better than we can.

The diagnostic phase works best on-site because we need to observe how teams actually work, not just how they describe their work. After the diagnostic, ongoing implementation support can be a mix of on-site and remote.

About half our work is in manufacturing and distribution. The rest spans professional services, healthcare providers, and construction. The operational principles transfer well across sectors; what changes is the regulatory context, and we bring in specialist knowledge for that.

Every engagement starts with agreed metrics: margin improvement, cost reduction, time-to-delivery, staff retention, or whatever matters most to your business. We report against those numbers at 30, 60, and 90 days.
